Is digital gold safe?

Digital gold platforms (MMTC-PAMP, SafeGold, PayTM Gold, Augmont) are backed 1:1 by physical gold stored in insured vaults. SEBI does not directly regulate digital gold as a security, but trustees like IDBI Trusteeship verify gold backing. Risks: platform bankruptcy, withdrawal restrictions. Stick to platforms with insurance disclosure and large vault custodians (Brinks, Sequel Logistics).
